About

Janet Somerville taught literature for twenty years in Toronto.

She spent three years wholly immersed in pioneering war correspondent Martha Gellhorn’s life and words, research that led to Yours, for Probably Always, now available as an audiobook, read by Tony Award-winning actress Ellen Barkin. It will be translated into Spanish for publication by Malpaso in Barcelona in 2027.

Her memoir How Midsummer Night was acquired by Open Road Media.

She is working on a book about the abiding friendship between Maya Angelou and Jessica Mitford.

Somerville is a frequent contributor to the Toronto Star Book Pages and often interviews authors for bookstores, libraries, publishers and writers festivals.
